This Sunday we will be celebrating the 509th anniversary of the Reformation. Even though there were people of great devotion and godly knowledge in the Middle Ages, as there are in every age, the Scriptures became overshadowed by human ritual, tradition and excess. The church at large fell into a period of darkness, marked by ignorance and superstition. The clear teaching of God's Word was neglected and virtually hidden from the mind of the common man. The Reformation marked a rediscovery of the gospel in the fullness of its grace, power, and beauty. One way we can observe this day is by celebrating the spread of the gospel to the ends of the earth.

Consequently, this Lord’s Day will also mark our Global Mission Sunday. Dr. Owen Tarantino will be our guest speaker. Dr. Tarantino received his Doctor of Ministry from Covenant Theological Seminary and is Associate Pastor at Chesterfield Presbyterian Church in Missouri where he has faithfully served for 30 years. He will be filling our pulpit and speaking in Sunday School updating us on what God is doing in a very large Asian country; a ministry which he helps to facilitate. Please make plans to join us starting at 9:15am.

A reminder on a few things:

  • One of the privileges of being a member is nominating and electing the leadership of the church. Presbyterianism is a representative form of church government. Read over the qualifications for church officers in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 and prayerfully consider men who exhibit these qualities. Ask if they are willing to serve and if so, fill out a nomination form and place it on the designated box on the welcome table. You may nominate multiple men if you believe they are qualified and are open to serve.
  • Men, please make plans to join us on Saturday, November 8th for a church wide Men’s Breakfast. Pastor Frank will speak on “Leading your Family” followed by a Q & A with a panel of our elders. (RVSP link)
  • We would really appreciate your input on Sunday School. Even if you do not regularly attend, we desire to hear from you.

Blessings,
Pastor Frank
